Friends,

I am excited to launch this website and announce my candidacy for Texas State Representative from District 105. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I am running.

In recent years, I've seen first hand the needs of Irving families, small business owners and our schools go unnoticed by those in power in Austin. Like you, I think we need common sense leaders who are in touch with the priorities of all of the residents of our community, not just the extremist views of a few.

While the radical leadership in Austin is fighting over ways to reaffirm our sovereignty, funding to map the cow genome, and whether or not to allow guns on college campuses - Texas families are saddled with the highest homeowners insurance rates in the nation, skyrocketing utility rates, failing public schools, poor transportation planning, sick and uninsured children, and an economic slowdown that causes the loss of more jobs everyday. Enough is enough!

It is time to bring balance and common sense back to our State Capitol. That is why I am running to be your Democratic nominee for State Representative in District 105.

In 2006 and 2008, Dallas Democrats achieved great success by combining grassroots enthusiasm with a positive vision for the future of our community. In Irving, however, we've not yet been able to achieve the same success. As we start this campaign, I pledge to work hand-in-hand with grassroots leaders to bring a victory home in Irving.

I plan on winning this campaign, and even though we are 17 months out from the election, I am already building a professional organization, raising money, and talking to community leaders like you about my candidacy. That is why I hope you'll join me in this effort to bring needed change to Irving and new priorities to Austin.

Yours,

Loretta Haldenwang
